Video Project

Here is the initial draft for my 60 second “How do you know where you are in time and space” video.  It’s pretty rough, and doesn’t have any images integrated in yet.. just a draft

I was hoping to have two final projects finished by today, but this one took awhile for me to complete.

Typography Exercises

Here are a few drafts from the typography poster exercise.

box project update

February 14, 2010

I apologize for the poor audio in the video files.  I’m speaking louder than normal, but my cell phone isn’t the best video recorder.

Here’s a quick update on my current box project.  I plan to spend the majority of the day on other drafts and things so hopefully there will be a few more posts.  I’m also hoping to have one complete box prepared for drilling.. but I might put that on hold in order to critique the other designs that I need to come up with.  I’m investing a bit too much time getting the flaws out of this first design, so the others might be a bit more haphazard.

The flaws evident from the draft in the video above have been corrected in the skin below

Flippy Image box project

February 11, 2010

Over the weekend I created 3 “flippy picture boxes” from wood blocks.  The snow prevented me from getting to the wood shop to do the drilling that needs to be done to accommodate a drawer, pics as soon as my camera battery gets a bit more juice.   I plan to use mod podge to apply the glossy printouts to each face of the individual cubes to give it a clean look when I’m done with it.

I’m making this project more difficult on me than it probably needs to be, wanting to incorporate all forms of the box’s transformation into the design, but when it gets finished it should look nice..  here’s what I have so far on the design of my box.  I included the layers and the color theme I’m wanting to use is visible in the swatches above.

It might not look like a lot, and most of it will probably be obscured by the primary shapes later on anyway.. but it was a lot harder than I originally anticipated making a seamless texture that would work for the whole box.
